A bit about Daveena B

About myself: I attended Wolverhampton Girls High School, achieving: • 8A*s, 2As at GCSE in Maths, English Language, English Literature, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Religious Studies, History, German and Design and Technology. • A*AA at A-Level in Biology, Chemistry and History respectively. • I am currently on a gap year with an unconditional offer to study Dentistry at the University of Manchester. At the start of each session, I like to go through the homework (which is set the week before) and mark this with my student. This allows us to go over any mistakes so we do not move on from the topic before the student is fully confident. I then go over content, focusing directly on the specification and using past examiner reports. Once the content is understood, I like to set a series of exam questions which the student is able to physically type up on the screen to show me - allowing me to annotate good and bad points of any answers. I believe my teaching techniques allow all aspects of the exam-style to be covered. The lesson is finished by me setting further exam questions to be completed for the following lesson. About my experience: • I worked as a tutor at Kumon for 3 years, specialising in Maths and English for ages 3-17- • I worked at an independent tuition centre for 3 years specialising in 11+. • For the past 2 years, due to the pandemic, I decided to work independently, gaining a lot of students via recommendations. • I have helped 100% of my students gain a place at their desired secondary school, this included Old Swinford Hospital School, Wolverhampton Girls High School, Nottingham High School and King Edwards Camphill. • I have helped over 5 GCSE students improve by at least three grades- this was shown in mock papers. Hi, my name is Daveena and my approach to tutoring is I ensure that the student knows I relate and empathise with their current stress and work load. I believe this helps build trust and allows the student to be open with all their struggles and problems and this way I can help best to solve them and strive to complete their targets. My lessons consist of my own revision notes and techniques which helped me achieve top grades and they also consist of a variety of mock papers and past paper questions. I teach 11+, KS3, GCSE and A-Level. I have a lot of experience in different exam boards, from AQA, to OCR and Edexcel as I have taught all three exam boards in a variety of different subjects. I also have interview knowledge and experience, as I attended a variety of Dental interview masterclasses and also passed Dental, Pharmacy and Optometry interviews for a variety of Russell Group Universities.
