A bit about Viv K

I am a determined character with a ‘never give up’ attitude in my approach to my job. I have worked with young people who have lost interest in maths and would rather not engage again with maths and turned the whole situation around such that their attendance and engagement improved, and they will come looking for me at their spare time to learn more maths. I have worked with my colleagues supporting them to improve outcomes of GCSE. I have been able to develop strategies that aimed at identifying learner gaps by taking the time to working with students at a 1:1 basis collating the gaps and then planning teaching to address those needs stage by stage and by so doing I embed differentiated delivering approach. I have an excellent grasp of the Maths curriculum including GCSE and Functional Skills, A level Maths and Further maths through my teaching qualifications. All my A Level results including further maths has always been at 100% pass rate (A*-C). My Strategies vary from one student to another, I use a dialogic approach, which enables the students to articulate their strengths and weaknesses/misconceptions. I then develop strategies that identify learner gaps, then I plan teaching to address those needs stage by stage embedding differentiated delivering approach. My Students like the pastoral nature with which I work with them. They see in me someone who has their interest at heart and even when they struggle to understand a concept they know that I can break it to them in several different methods to enable them understand. Students who would otherwise not want to do maths suddenly become so interested in maths and come to see me during their spare time for more maths. I have taught 1:1 private lesson over several years.
