A bit about Nicholas H

My lessons normally start with what we looked at in the last session. I like to begin with a quiz, word association or fun activity to get the brain engaged. I then like to introduce the next topic, link it to what has gone before and check the students prior knowledge before embarking on some key phrases and and a discussion on the topic in hand. I like to finish how I start, linking back to the previous topic so it all makes sense and what we might look at next time. I have been teaching for almost 14 years and prior to this I was in the Snow Sports industry as a ski and snowboard instructor and guide. I took up teaching after discontinuing ski seasons as I really liked teaching in that environment and wanted to continue teaching people. I really enjoy the different ways to impart knowledge and designing fun ways for people to learn. I am new to tutoring on a one-to-one basis but have a great deal of experience as a course and personal tutor and I am looking to bring this experience across to a different kind of platform. Students enjoy the humour I bring to the class but also the insistence that the students work as hard as I do and that they can ask me any questions. They like to be kept on their toes and the pace of the lessons. If you can lessons enjoyable and fun, educating becomes much easier and learning becomes second nature. I enjoy winter sports, climbing, cycling and running. I occasionally open water swim too and when I get the chance, I take my daughter camping. I have two whippets which also take up a lot of time but are excellent fun. I also very much appreciate visits to the cinema and film in general and go whenever I can.
