A bit about Emelia G

Hi, my name is Emelia! I am a qualified English teacher with experience teaching secondary English language and Literature. I have a PGCE in teaching Secondary English and have taught the Eduqas and AQA exam specifications. I am currently living in London and teaching English at GCSE level, as per the AQA spec, and KS3 English. In my free time, I love reading, pottery and tennis! Whether it's exam technique, understanding texts, essay writing or practising English, I can help you to get to where you want to be! Reach out and we can have a chat about how we can work together. Helping students feel confident and achieve success. I love it when my students tell me stories of their achievements and show me work in which they have made excellent progress. There is no better feeling than when my students tell me they have achieved a grade 9 in their work, moved up a grade or finally understood something that they have been stuck on for a long time. I have taught AQA and Eduqas exam boards. I have taught English as a first language to KS3 and GCSE students. I have also taught English as an additional language to a wider range of ages from 4+. I have experience teaching the following literature texts: Romeo and Juliet, An Inspector Calls, A Christmas Carol, Macbeth, GCSE Poetry Anthology (AQA & Eduqas), Twelfth Night, Heroes, Holes and Noughts and Crosses. In addition, I have experience teaching: Narrative writing, Reading Questions and Transactional writing. Fostering the same love I have for my subject in my students. I believe English is such a rich subject, that it is impossible not to find some aspect of it that you enjoy. I like to show my students that English can be relevant to them, helping my students learn to like English. It is hard to learn a subject you don't enjoy, that's why I think it is important to show my students that learning English can be enjoyable. I adapt my lessons to each individual student so that you can gain the maximum benefit from my lessons. I ensure lessons are engaging, using a range of different activities and strategies to enable students to fully explore English and gain an exceptional understanding of the subject. As well as activities to secure understanding and subject knowledge, if you require, we will look at examples of outstanding work, breaking it apart so you can clearly understand how to achieve in English. I ensure everything is explained clearly and will check to understand frequently, making sure you are 100% confident with something before we move on.
