A question from Sherpa to Sarah M...
So what inspired me to become a teacher…. I decided that I would pursue a career which allowed me to work around my own children and made the decision that this would be within education. I originally wanted to teach primary but as soon starting work at a secondary school, I realised that was the age I wanted to teach at. I started by completed my level 2 and 3 as a teaching assistant and went to work as an SEN TA in a secondary school. It was here and when I walked in my first maths lesson that I said to myself “this is what I want to do!” I saw how rewarding it was to encourage and engage pupils so that they could enjoy and achieve within the maths subject, how pupils who struggle can be successful with the correct strategies and how proud they can be when they get something they didn’t think they could, right. Maths is fabulous and interesting and it is everywhere, all around us. Everyones deserves the opportunity to see what they could learn and achieve from such a huge subject.
