A bit about Gaynor Lj

With four children at home, at the age of 36, I became a mature student and embarked on an academic journey which began with re-sitting GCSE maths and English exams followed by completing a humanities access course. After achieving an English Degree, I went on to complete a Masters by Research. Currently, I am a humanities and social sciences PhD student who has also been privately mentoring English students for the past three years. I have a keen interest in helping students reach their potential and believe in their own abilities. Alongside being qualified to teach English as a second language, I have achieved the status of Associate Fellowship of HE and the SEDA Learning Award. After asking you to do a little prep work in a relaxed, friendly and professional manner, we will come together to talk through a piece of text or any written work that you have completed. Engaging vocally with a piece of literature helps to bring the words alive, making them less scary and easy to understand. Ensuring that you continue to enjoy your academic journey is key to your continuation and success. My students feedback that they always feel relaxed during our lessons, and they always look forward to our next session. By listening to and getting to know my students, they feel that they are treated as individuals. I teach each student at their level, dependent on their own needs.
