A bit about Jamie M

I am experienced English teacher who has qualified teacher status (QTS) in English - gained from Kings College, London - and currently teach GCSE English (both subjects) as a one-to-one tutor in two academies in Lincolnshire. This is my sixth year in the role, during which time I have accumulated a wealth of experience and success, In addition, I have also been an exam marker for the WJEC/Eduqas board for the last three years, so know exactly where to focus our efforts during lessons. With a very strong academic background and the capacity to reduce difficult concepts into easily understandable lessons, I can add real value to your academic progress and help you to meet your particular goals. So, whether you are a 'Grade 3' student wanting to ensure your college place, or a 'Grade 7' prospect wishing to push yourself to a '9', I have the skills, experience, knowledge and adaptability required to enable you to excel. I first started tutoring six years ago, when I was successful in applying for a 1-2-1 English GCSE tutor post at a secondary academy in Lincolnshire. I quickly realised that my enthusiasm, knowledge and ability to convey information accessibly, yielded excellent results and was a fun way to make a living! Since then, I have been employed by another Lincolnshire academy and now teach 25 hours of KS3 & KS4 English a week across both schools - so I really have a wealth of experience that will benefit you tremendously when we work together. Outside of teaching, I have a number of hobbies. Being an English teacher, I guess it's fairly predictable that I love reading, and I always have my nose in a novel at night. I also love sports of any description and, despite being past my prime, play as much squash, badminton and snooker as I can. Beyond that, I love to travel and have visited/lived in over 30 different countries so far - but there are numerous others that I want to cross off my bucket list in the not-to-distant future!
