A bit about Helena S

Hi there, I am a 24-year old female tutor with a certificate in teaching (ESL). As a hardworking student, I graduated with an International Baccalaureate (Higher Level Biology, History, German, and Psychology) and later with a BSc and an MSc in Psychology. My native language is German, so alongside my most passionate subject, psychology, and biology, I also teach ESL and German. I am a friendly, patient, and reliable tutor who will try my best to make learning fun! I have broad interests in anything to do with humans and living beings, from psychology to biology to language (English as a second language, German). My lessons will be tailored to your individual needs and learning style. We will consult over what you expect to achieve when working with me and, following from this, I will plan lessons to match this goal. Feedback is always welcome throughout! I hold a CELTA certificate, which trained me to teach English as a second language, involving training in good teaching practices and applied experience. I have also gained experience supporting primary school pupils in the classroom for three months in 2020. Beyond this, I have collected valuable people skills through voluntary and paid work with diverse groups of people with additional needs (learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, mental health). I love learning and I would love for my students to find their own enjoyment in exploring and understanding the world around them. There is nothing nicer than observing a student having a moment of understanding or showing genuine joy in learning something new. I am a friendly, patient, and flexible tutor. I will make sure that my students feel comfortable and supported at all times and that lessons go at a pace that is best for them. I am always open to feedback and will apply this immediately. Classroom teaching is not always the best environment for people to learn and flourish. As a tutor, I feel that I am in a position to open up a world of personalised and supportive learning without the pressures that classroom teaching brings.
