A bit about Callum D

I am currently studying for a masters in pure mathematics at the University of Manchester and I am a recent graduate of the University Of Sheffield in mathematics (Class One Honours). I am half French, half British. I love to teach and tutor, I think it is an extremely rewarding activity and love the feeling of having helped someone. To date I have clocked up approximately 200 hours of tutoring, and currently tutor 5 students in maths, 1 in French. I have a lot of experience tutoring GCSE/A-level/ IB maths and have myself achieved top grades in maths (I)GCSE +Further Maths IGCSE/ IB (HL) / AP/SAT/ degree examinations. I also have experience tutoring students with SEN, which has been a fascinating way to see how different students with different needs learn best. I have had very recent experience being a substitute maths teacher in a local secondary school, helping students in year 7 (KS3) and year 9 work towards their GCSE maths qualifications. I currently tutor 5 students in GCSE/a-level maths, 1 general learner in French. In the past I have also helped students get top grades in IB (SL/HL) maths and have tutored 1st year mathematics undergraduates. I have always managed to effectively tutor mathematics by taking a large step back if someone is stuck. I am patient in this approach, as I know the importance of time to understand a concept. Indeed, Mathematics is all about setting a solid foundation to be able to tackle harder problems. I also like to help someone's understanding by looking at a certain piece of mathematics from a different angle, and this is always possible and is the beauty of the subject. If the grade in the exam is all that matters, I have developed very effective exam techniques and strategies over the years for various qualifications. I am very familiar with the types of questions that will inevitably turn up on a GCSE, A-Level, AP, IB or SAT exam.
