A bit about Vinita V

English literature specialist with 5 years of teaching experience. I became a teacher as I believe all students have the potential to be successful, and I wanted to be that person who could support them on their journey. Children are the future leaders, and my role ensures my knowledge can be passed on to support children to becoming young, successful adults. Aqa exam board for Literature and Language, Literacy and language and step up to English trained. I have taught Eduqas Power and Conflict poetry. Aqa literature texts: An Inspector Calls The Sign of Four A Christmas Carol Power and Conflict poetry Romeo and Juliet Grammar trained Othello Macbeth For literature I work on the content first or the text. I understand what you already know first through questioning and then build up on that knowledge further. I can support with exam writing, as well as understanding texts and questions. With the Language paper I work on supporting students to understand the question first, and teach skills and use more accessible ways to teach students how to write up a response. I usually go through the mark scheme first with the students so they are aware of what the examiner will be looking for in their response. I started teaching during covid. I taught primary school students grammar, focusing on how to write different sentences, as well as using the correct conjunctions to help develop their sentences. I also worked with secondary school students and focused on creative writing which then supported with the creative writing task in English Language Paper 1. I love the fact there are no right or wrong answers in English. I also love that I am able to voice my opinion and point of view in certain responses. The wide range of texts from different cultures, time periods and backgrounds has educated me about our own history, and how society lived and treated one another. I work in two ways: I am able to talk to the student and teach all the content while they sit and make notes. I also like to do it as a lesson where I teach content, and then the student will answer questions. When it comes to exam prep I would ask the student to answer a question in their own time to see what they can do, and then over the lesson I would give them feedback so they can see what they have done well and what needs to be done to improve. My favourite thing about being a tutor is finding new ways to support students, and watch them progress. The one to one support ensures full attention on the student, and all misconceptions can be addressed. Any questions the students have can be answered in that session, and students can also contact me even when we don’t have a lesson - the support is always there for them. All students have the potential to do well, but it is a teachers job to help students unlock that potential. Never give up and keep going. Failure is the first attempt in learning. Students love the fact I have the knowledge and can support with all aspects of English whether that be analysing the evidence, or writing an exam response. I teach students steps to follow to create a strong response. I ask questions to check for any misconceptions and depth of understanding. I find ways to make it easier for the student to learn. My year 11 grades were the greatest success I have had, as well as working with students who were failing English. With my support over a matter of weeks students went from a grade 3/4 to a grade 7. Students were then able to go to the college they applied to. Many students I have worked with had no confidence, however through my positive approach, students remained positive. I teach students from year 7 - 11. I also specialise in grammar which is usually taught in KS3, but can be taught in secondary school too. In regard to exam boards I currently teach and mark AQA, however have taught some texts from the Eduqas exam board.
