A bit about Hannah B

I teach maths up to A-level, across all the major UK exam boards. I can also help with 11+ exams and other entrance exams. Ahead of our first lesson, it helps if you can share as much as possible about the exams you or your child will be taking. Please note I do not teach Mechanics. For economics, I teach from GCSE up to degree level. At the degree level, I mostly teach first-year economics and statistics, and second-year statistics and econometrics. Hello, I’m Hannah! I’m a maths and economics tutor based in London. I can teach students from school level to university economics students, including GCSE and A-level maths and Economics. I’m here to help students with that extra bit of support to reach the grades they deserve. I’ve studied economics both at UCL here in the UK and at Columbia University in New York. The course at UCL is one of the most competitive courses in the country, and I achieved a first and made the Dean’s List for the top 5% of students. Now, I work primarily as a freelance financial journalist. Learning is all about confidence. Students can be afraid to try new things, or even to ask questions, because they fear getting things wrong. Tutoring provides a space for students to make mistakes and learn from them, filling in the gaps in their knowledge along the way. In a typical tutoring session, the student and I will go through any topics they want to work on. During term time, we use worksheets and practice questions. Closer to exams, the focus is on past papers. I don't tend to set homework unless students request it, but I encourage students to practise in their own time and can make timetables to help with this. I hold a first-class degree in economics from UCL, including a score of 92 in second-year econometrics. After finishing my bachelor's degree, I studied for an MA in financial journalism at City, University of London and now work as a freelance journalist. Before starting university, I took a year out to save money and study maths at A level. Alongside seeing a maths tutor twice a week, I studied after work and during my lunch breaks. I got the A* in maths I needed, and I became a big fan of tutoring! At school, I achieved an A* in maths at GCSE and an A in economics at A-level.
