Lessons always start with a 5 minute chat about the three most positive (funny, exciting, inspiring) moments which happened over the last week. We will then move on to a lead-in activity which is usually a fun, interactive exercise relating to the relevant skill or topic that will be worked on in the lesson. The lesson will then move onto its main focus. When meeting new students it is important to build trust and discuss what their learning objectives and goals are moving forward. Additionally it is important to discuss their learning styles and what teaching methods work best for them. This way lessons can be tailored to the students needs. I believe that lessons should be student focused and help to draw students towards answering their own questions rather then simply giving them the answers. Lesson should be fun, interactive, well-planned, well-resourced and well-lead in order to build students confidence in an enjoyable manner. The more enjoyable a lesson the more motivation students will have to study their subject. My ultimate aim as an online tutor is to help every student reach their potential through balancing constructive criticism with praise, making sure to protect and build students confidence and well being along the way.
