A bit about Youcef K

Lessons always start with a 5 minute chat about the three most positive (funny, exciting, inspiring) moments which happened over the last week. We will then move on to a lead-in activity which is usually a fun, interactive exercise relating to the relevant skill or topic that will be worked on in the lesson. The lesson will then move onto its main focus. When meeting new students it is important to build trust and discuss what their learning objectives and goals are moving forward. Additionally it is important to discuss their learning styles and what teaching methods work best for them. This way lessons can be tailored to the students needs. I believe that lessons should be student focused and help to draw students towards answering their own questions rather then simply giving them the answers. Lesson should be fun, interactive, well-planned, well-resourced and well-lead in order to build students confidence in an enjoyable manner. The more enjoyable a lesson the more motivation students will have to study their subject. My ultimate aim as an online tutor is to help every student reach their potential through balancing constructive criticism with praise, making sure to protect and build students confidence and well being along the way. I studied History, Geography and Philosophy and Ethics for A-Levels. Furthermore, I studied Ancient History at University for four years and have extensive knowledge of these subjects through constant research and reading. Additionally, I have a CELTA (Teaching English as Foreign Language) qualification and work as an online language teacher. I started tutoring from September 2020 when I started my CELTA course (Teaching English as a foreign language). We were required to complete six hours of accessed teaching practice, observe six hours of experienced teachers and pass multiple assignments. After I had passed my qualification I started working as a tutor through an company called RefuNet which puts volunteer English teachers in contact with refugees. Additionally, since the 2021-2022 academic year I have been working as a secondary school teacher within the South-West where I teach a variety of subjects to years 7-11 (KS3- GCSE). I am confident teaching within a classroom and online setting and have extensive knowledge and experience of my subject areas. A-Levels BA Ancient History CELTA (Teaching English as a foreign language) Sport- I mainly indulge in MMA, Running, Swimming and five a side football Hiking- I love exploring stunning areas of nature. What's the most beautiful place you've ever visited. Festivals- Glastonbury festival is the best festival in the world, do you agree? Coffee- Who doesn't love coffee??? Reading_ I enjoy reading autobiographies of inspirational people, history, philosophy, geography and current affairs. What's your favorite book of all time? Horticulture- I have a huge Cacti collection. I cultivate certain species whose cuttings I sell online. What's your favorite plant? I teach secondary school level with every subject when working as a supply teacher. I have taught KS3-GCSE level within schools and beginner to advanced level for online English teaching. The exam boards used in the schools that I have worked at include Edexcel for History and AQA for Geography. Helping and witnessing students develop the necessary skills and confidence in themselves and their subject is very rewarding. Self-confidence and self belief are prerequisites for any form of success in life Therefor seeing students develop these qualities gives you an amazing sense of satisfaction; knowing that it can change the trajectory of peoples lives for the better.
