A bit about Sarrey H

I completed an engineering degree in China and bulit up myself as a successful project manager. Since moving to the UK in 2010, my curiosity has directed me to education, so I completed PGCE and became a qualified teacher. In last 7 years, I have taught in both state and independent schools as a full-time Maths teacher. However, it is the small group intervention and 1-to-1 tutoring I enjoyed the most. I am here to enjoy helping you to learn better. As a qualified teacher, I have been teaching and tutoring Maths from KS2 up to A-level (or IBDP) privately or in school. I also tutored adult students with Functional Skills Maths. Other than that, I have lots of experience in tutoring English and Mandarin. I provide tailor-made lessons based on personal situation of each learner. As a general pattern, I will start with assessing your prior learning and then move forward from what you know. I constantly assess while teaching to make sure you can learn with a pace that is just right for you. While learning new topics, I will identify and fill your knowledge gaps, address any misconceptions. If you are a long-term learner with me from Year 5, 6, 7 and 8, you will be assured to be able to understand maths and master important transferable skills for further learning rather than remember methods for independent topics. If you only need some support to improve your grades in GCSE or A level Maths, I will help you to address misconceptions or gaps in your previous learning and consolidate any method you might have learnt before. My own education and career background have allowed me to develop my own approach of teaching. I like to relate teaching to real life contexts to support understanding or motivate learning. I know it is such a pain to remember so many formulae and methods, sometimes it is really unnecessary. Understanding is the best way to help you to remember correctly and effortlessly. My students said "you make maths so easy" and this is exactly what I want to do. I am very flexible and patient. I focus on understanding by guiding students to learn from what they have known. I allow my students to work in their own pace, encourage them to learn from their mistakes, and support them to reach their potential. Learning becomes a lot easier when someone becomes confident in what he/she learns.
