A bit about Simon P

My PGCE qualifies me to teach the 11-18 age range, so I teach Key Stage 3, GCSE, A Level and the International Baccalaureate (IB), mostly with Pearson/EDEXCEL and Cambridge boards, but also AQA, OCR and EDUQAS. I also offer mentoring for university students and proofread dissertations. I have a BA, MA and two PhDs in History. I also have a professional UK teaching qualification, a PGCE in History and English (11-18 age range), which means I have qualified teacher status. Furthermore, I have a Diploma in TEFL, to teach English to speakers of other languages. What inspired me to become a teacher? I guess I wanted a career where I felt I was making a positive contribution to the world. What better than teach children, who are the future of this planet? Now after 30+ years teaching, I still love the exchange of ideas in the classroom: I don't just teach students; I learn from them! Outside of teaching, I am an active historian, researching and writing books & articles for international peer-reviewed journals, and attending conferences to share ideas. I am also interested in preserving heritage. My favorite sport is swimming, as it exercises all of the body and swimming in the sea takes one into another world, beyond the human world. I swim all year round. Good food & drink are also appreciated, in moderation, of course!
