A bit about Kayley R

I have been tutoring 1 to 1, small groups and secondary school classes since my gaining PGCE in 1998. As an examiner for AQA, Pearson, WJEC, Cambridge/ OCR and IB, I focus and instil the objectives required for the coursework and the examination. Personal tutoring has created outstanding rewards in being able to shape learning style and content to a particular learner's needs. We all learn and respond in different ways; finding and creating the key to unlock potential, regardless of ability, is inspiring and motivating for me. I have a masters in English Literature, and have taught the following texts for GCSE in detail: Mice and Men, Heroes, Inspector Calls, Macbeth, Lear, Romeo and Juliet, Jane Eyre Lord of the Flies. Animal Farm, amongst others. I have taught KS3 up to KS5. My work with examination boards has enhanced my knowledge of the curriculum at both GCSE and A-level. My subject knowledge is sound, but is also shaped by what the examiner expects. I also moderate coursework for A2 English Language. With experience I have learnt of the immediate effect of tutoring. Since Covid I have also fine tuned what works for the learner on-line and have discovered what an effective tool remote learning can be, not just for convenience but also in terms of focus. Engagement is key, but needs to be built around specific agreed targets to enable the learner to get the result they are capable of.
