A bit about Andi

I am a Post-16 Learning Support Assistant (LSA) who has worked in the "Skills for Life" sector. I started tutoring back in 2002, working with adults with learning differences (such as dyslexia or Autistic Spectrum Conditions) to help them improve their Basic Skills (English and Maths) and have since worked in various learning difficulty social care roles. About me? Well, I have a passion for all things psychology and electronics, I like learning new things and I have a cat called Barnard. I love to communicate ideas and to work with others. I am particularly interested in supporting students with additional learning needs as I have worked in this field before and I am dyslexic myself. I have Level 3 vocational qualifications in Adult Literacy Subject Support (C&G 9483) and in Electronics (C&G 2240 - cohort Student of the Year). In 2019 I gained a degree in psychology from The Open University (First Class Honours) and in 2021 I was awarded a 120 hour TEFL qualification. I prefer to work with adults but would welcome enquiries from anyone tackling psychology or electronics subjects. My approaches may be a bit different as I prefer students to come to me with their questions and needs, and in return, I'll do my very best to help and to work with you. So, for example, we could look at how your learning difference affects your current studies to see what has worked in the past and what may be useful in future, or, perhaps during another session, we could look at your English skills or how to handle the sometimes vast amounts of information study can involve. As I also have qualifications in electronics and psychology, my learning support input may be especially useful in these subject areas. I have worked one to one with Post-16 learners over the years to help improve their study skills and basic English, and currently I tutor TEFL English conversation online. I have a degree in psychology from The Open University and lots of experience working with people with learning difficulties in either social care or learning support. I prefer to work with adults but would welcome enquiries from anyone tackling psychology or electronics subjects.
