A bit about Elizabeth C

Hi, my name is Elizabeth and I tutor at my old high school on a Saturday morning, helping students achieve really high grades through teaching them exam techniques and easy ways to remember content. I have made amazing notes and ways for everyone’s different learning methods so no matter how you learn I will try my best to accommodate. I specialise in: Geography English Language and Literature Media studies Spanish GCSE PE French If we were doing a language lesson I would send them a speaking card 15 minutes before the lesson so that they have time to prepare, then when the lesson starts we would do a speaking test. At first it will be a little scary but then their confidence will build up and by the time it comes to their speaking exam they will be more than prepared. During a language lesson we would go over topics and themes, then at the end we would do a mini quiz. For the other lessons we would start with what they already know about the topic we are doing, then I would expand on what they have learnt. After that we would do exam style questions, where I would teach them techniques on how to answer the questions. Then at the end we would do a mini quiz to see if they remember the content. I started professionally tutoring when I finished year eleven at my old high school. However throughout my GCSE years I taught my peers things they might not have understood in lesson or needed more help on. I teaching languages because you learn the culture of different places and to me that is fascinating. I love Media because it relates to everyday life and you can start to understand how businesses work. I love Geography because you learn about the world you live in and how countries are always striving to do better. I love GCSE PE because you learn how your body works. I love English language and literature because you have to think about things in lots of different ways and there is never one right answer. I think I’d say I’m a relatable tutor because I won’t be that much older than the students, so I know what it’s like to be in their shoes because I would have been where they are only a few years ago. I know how to keep a lesson fun, enjoyable and informative all at the same time due to me having to sometimes teach fifteen year eleven students on a Saturday morning. My favourite thing is helping other people feel proud of themselves because of what they worked hard to achieve. Be positive and be understanding. One lesson a student might really be eager and the next they might be tired from schoolwork, either way I will try to help them as much as possible and try to make them smile. My students like how kind and understanding I can be and they know how hard I try to help them. Also my students at school think it’s nice to have someone their age helping them to understand things because I might explain things in a different way to their teachers in a way that makes sense to them. They also really like the notes I made for my GCSEs. I am a tutor to two Sudanese year eleven students who spoke English quite well but struggled with written English. During the summer holidays there was a summer school for a week and every morning I taught these students basic English grammar. In a week we went from reception English to year four English grammar. I am currently doing four A-levels in French, Spanish, Economics and Media. Below are the grades I got in my GCSEs Spanish-9 Media-9 English Language-8 English Literature-8 Maths-7 Geography-8 Science-8-8 GCSE PE- 8 Throughout my GCSEs I was helping to teach my peers and they found it really useful, then on results day I was more proud of them than I was of myself. That’s when I realised I quite like tutoring. I volunteer quite a lot. I am an ambassador for the UK on behalf of ENRYP, which means I go to European countries and talk to the other ambassadors from different countries about youth projects we are doing and how we can help each other. For example I am running a project in England which is about ending make violence against women through educating young men on how to be better allies for women. I mainly did AQA exams and a few Edexcel exams. I can teach any year up to year eleven. Although I do specialised in high school content.
