A bit about Yvonne L

I started my teaching career as a language teacher with a passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs. After a number of years teaching languages, I moved into teaching English and maths. I taught both subjects at GCSE and Functional Skills up to level 2 in a large FE college before moving into smaller settings specifically for students with SEMH and SEN. I have been lucky enough to work with some amazing students over the years and gaining their qualifications has enabled them to go on to achieve their goals and become the successful young adults they always aspired to be. I am passionate about enabling everyone to achieve their potential by believing in themselves. I started teaching 25 years ago and quickly found that SEN was my passion. Tutoring came about 10 years later when I was approached by a parent of a pupil I had taught several years before. They asked me to support a younger sibling who was being home educated due to anxiety around attending school. It started from there and has snowballed since with me tutoring several evenings a week and at weekends too. I am now at the point where I would like to be able to offer daytime tutoring as well. My specialty is English and maths and Italian too! I create lessons that support the individual and empower then to develop and grow in confidence and ability so that by the time they reach an examination, they are calm, prepared and absolutely up for the challenge.
