A bit about Lucia B

Hello! My name is Lucia and I am a qualified Biology teacher with four years of classroom teaching experience. I studied Biology (BSc Hons) at the University of Sheffield and completed my PGCE at the University of Oxford. I have now moved away from classroom teaching in order to dedicate myself to helping passionate students through tutoring. I teach OCR A Level Biology to sixth form students. I teach AQA Combined Science GCSE and AQA Biology GCSE to years 9-11. I follow the AQA Ready for GCSE curriculum to years 7 and 8. My lessons are tailored to student needs and I can be flexible with what students need at the time of the lesson. I am happy to assist in homework that you have been set at school. My lessons usually follow this structure: - Starter: This is an opportunity for me to assess how much you have retained from our last session and identify any misconceptions you have. -New content: Here I will introduce new content through power points, writing on the whiteboard, videos and demonstrations. - Exam questions: I will give you exam questions that are tailored to the content that we have learnt that lesson and we will work through how to best answer it. -Review: We discuss how the lesson went and what preparation needs to be done for the next lesson. My favourite thing about tutoring is seeing students develop their confidence in a subject and realising how far they have come. I enjoy working with students to identify what specifically about the subject they are finding tricky, and working with them to overcome it. Whether it is maths in science skills, exam technique or the scientific method, I am excited to help you!
