A bit about Jayne H

My greatest success has been nurturing a learner who totally lacked confidence through a year of science to achieve a distinction in the end of year exam. He now believes in himself and will go on to complete his Level 3 apprenticeship! My favourite thing about being a teacher is inspiring young people to aim high and reach for their goals. Students often doubt themselves and a big part of my job is showing them how to be independent learners and to think for themselves. I am a trained Engineer with a Degree in Medical Electronics. I discovered my love of teaching 6 years ago and I now work in a college of Further Education teaching maths and physics, my two favourite subjects. I first started online tutoring in 2020, offering one to one and small group tutoring to aid students in completing their qualification. I found I really enjoyed the online environment, particularly the individual teaching and students gained greater understanding through the online activities I utilised. My students enjoy my enthusiasm, and the way I make complicated subjects seem more straightforward and easier to understand. They think I am approachable and have a relaxed yet confident teaching style which promotes independent and active learning.
