A bit about James S

I'm a fully qualified teacher and GCSE Examiner with over fifteen years' experience teaching at both secondary school and university level. I have successfully tutored students to achieve GCSE results above and beyond their target grades. I specialise in English Literature and Language GCSE, and English Literature A-Level. I have experience teaching a wide range of texts, in particular Macbeth, An Inspector Calls, The Sign of Four, Jekyll and Hyde, Romeo and Juliet and A Christmas Carol, among others. I also have an extensive background in philosophy, and am available to tutor that subject at A-Level, IB and degree level. The structure of lessons will depend on your needs. This might mean a close reading and discussion of an assigned text, giving feedback on essays and assignments, working carefully through past and mock exam papers, or teaching entirely new material. I have been tutoring in different forms for over 15 years, beginning with small classes and one-to-one sessions at university level, and have been a full-time tutor for a little over a year now.
