A bit about Lorraine G

I have retired from full time teaching and a career in senior management, but love continuing to use my experience to help my learners to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding. Learning French should be fun! Helping people to learn something new, or get even better at something they can already do, is the most rewarding aspect of being a teacher. We all know what it feels like to struggle with something new, and experience has taught me that the best way to learn is to feel relaxed and to enjoy the experience. That`s why I have always sought to find interesting, fun ways of supporting my learners. I really love animals (especially my soppy dog, Poppy) and I enjoy spending time surrounded by nature. Poppy takes me out twice a day, rain or shine....whether I like it or not! When I'm home, there is always music of some kind playing. Sometimes it's classical, sometimes it's rock - usually it's probably a bit too loud! I'm a member of a book club and an amateur dramatic society. Performing on stage reminds me of what it's like to feel utterly terrified to be in the spotlight, but really proud that I had the courage to do it. Teaching is rewarding in so many ways, and I share my learners' pride and sense of achievement when exams are passed. In the days when OFSTED graded the lessons they observed, I was delighted to achieve grade 1 each time. However, for me, successful teaching occurs at that wonderful moment when a struggling learner suddenly grins and says, "oh.....I get it now!"
