A bit about Matthew L

I am an experienced Secondary school science teacher with 13 years experience. I am approached and reliable teacher who offers the science at GCSE and iGCSE level, and Chemistry at A level. Most of my teaching career has been in leadership positions, whether it be Head of Chemistry, Head of Science or Senior lead practitioner in charge of teaching and learning. Through these roles I developed a wealth of strategies for all students to achieve, from the disengaged to the more able student. Throughout my time as a teacher I have also taught the three sciences across all exam boards in the UK. This allows me to tailor sessions to suit the student and exam board needs, leading to the best outcome possible. Before my role as a teacher I spent time as an organic Chemistry research scientist. This role had a focus on synthesising the cell wall of tuberculosis within a laboratory. My lessons usually start with a prior knowledge check, followed by a teaching episode, followed by a tasked based up on the exam board the student is studying under. When I am not teaching in the classroom. I am often surfing, training lifeguards on our local beaches, or paddle boarding. I have a Masters in Chemistry and a PGCE in teaching Science.
