A bit about Anne E

I live in a beautiful part of England with my husband and small dog. I am a mum of two children, who are now grown up. I very much enjoy walking along our wonderful coastline. I enjoy reading, sewing, cooking and spending time with my family. I am a friendly person who is always willing to listen. I have a lot of patience and understanding with children. Something I feel is important, is to establish a happy, professional relationship with any child needing a little extra support to gain their confidence. From experience, a happy child will be willing to listen and learn. I have 25 years classroom experience working mainly with years 4, 5 and 6 pupils. I can offer tutoring in mathematics and English, including reading support. KS2 Mathematics and English. I am new to tutoring online, but I have spent many years working with not only whole classes, but working one to one when a particular child needs a little extra support. These are mainly individual children who just need to recap on something they have not found easy to help them become more secure. It is always so rewarding to see a child's face light up when they suddenly feel more confident and understand the task we have been working on. A happy confident child will be ready to learn. A gentle, reassuring approach with lots of praise and perseverence in order to complete the given task. The success of seeing a struggling child finally be able to work more confidently and independantly. My favourite thing about being a tutor is seeing a struggling child achieve, even the smallest goals. The feeling of seeing this is one of the best rewards I could ask for. The aim of my lessons is to present them in a calm and confident manner, but also focusing on keeping the attention of all students, whether they are willing to learn or not. Any lesson can present with unpredictable events. These need to be dealt with quickly and calmly in order to resume focus on the learning objective to the lesson. Watching the enquiring minds of the children and the sense of achievement when I see that lightbulb moment within a Child's face. Also having the ability to quickly see when a child needs a little extra help. My warm, friendly and gentle approach to helping them become independent learners. I am not a teacher, but as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, I have taken classes independently for many years covering the teacher on a regular weekly basis or when the need arises, sometimes at very short notice. I was first inspired to work within an educational setting when my own children were at primary school, where I volunteered to help and soon realised that my previous career within an accounts office was not what I wanted to pursue and helping children to learn became a passion. I work with mainly primary KS2 children. My interests outside of teaching are: Reading, especially about historical events. Walking along our rugged coastline whenever I can. Cooking and trying new recipes. Cycling, but not great distances. Spending lots of quality time with my family. Teaching assistant Level 3 and Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualifications. Plus over 25 years experience of working in a classroom with KS2 children.
