A bit about Karl R

Only a few spaces left for 2023-2024! I am a qualified science teacher of AQA GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I love tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to really tailor my teaching to your specific needs. In my spare time I enjoy travelling - especially to Italy! I find the Italian food and culture fascinating. I have a degree in Biomedical Science which lends itself well to Biological and Chemical subjects. After this I obtained a PGCE in Secondary Science from the University of Exeter, one of the top teaching schools in the UK. I have worked at a number of mainstream secondary schools, as well as SEN and SEMH schools both as a science teacher and as a learning support assistant. I currently tutor full time as I find providing 1 to 1 session very rewarding and it fits in with my schedule. I am also working towards my TEFL qualification so watch this space for upcoming English tuition! Did you know you may have to recall a piece of information 7 times or more in order to commit it fully to memory? My lessons make use of spaced repetition retrieval, which means I may ask you a question about a lesson that happened yesterday, last week or even last month! This ensures you know which areas to focus on in your revision. Passing your GCSE is about much more than knowledge retrieval. I will guide you through what examiners are looking for, help you dissect what a question is asking of you and most importantly to help you apply the knowledge you have in order to gain maximum marks. I teach AQA, Edexcel and OCR for Biology, Chemistry and Physics GCSE and IGCSE, including Maths. Travelling Learning Italian Playing videogames (RPGs are my favourite) Learning to cook! I first gained experience tutoring whilst still at university in 2013 when I started providing tuition to first year students. Since then I have taught in various roles from learning support assistant, teacher and now online tutor.
