** School hours availability only** I am a qualified English and ESOL teacher with BA Hons and PGCE in English, and MEd in SEND. I have been teaching for 24 years in both primary and secondary schools. I have extensive knowledge and teaching experience of the KS2 and KS3 curriculum, and of a variety of KS4 and KS5 exam specifications including AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas and Cambridge. I have taught pupils who are high achievers in English so I can offer activities to challenge and enrich the learning experiences of pupils working above the expected levels for their ages as well as specific skills-focused lessons for pupils who need additional support. As a SENCO I work successfully with pupils who are working below the expected levels in reading, writing, SPaG and maths, including those with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, SEMH, and ASD. My writing lessons utilise a range of teaching and learning strategies to show my pupils how to grow their writing from simple noun phrases to longer pieces of writing with embedded literary devices, such as imagery. They are encouraged to use tools such as a thesaurus to extend their vocabulary and use of synonyms. My lessons also focus on transactional writing, discursive writing and analytical and evaluative essays. Pupils will focus on using a range of sentence structures for effect, including rhetorical devices and minor sentences, cohesion, structure and SPaG. I teach spelling and all aspects of grammar using programmes such as Alpha to Omega. I have excellent knowledge of how to teach pupils to answer a range of reading comprehension question types, and how to use the full range of reading skills, including skimming, scanning, retrieval, inference, analysis and evaluation. As a CPT3A qualified assessor, I am qualified to diagnostically assess pupils' reading, writing, phonics and memory for learning to enhance my provision for my pupils. This knowledge also enables me to prepare and deliver lessons with a specific skill in mind, whether it be oral reading, fluency, verbal/non-verbal reasoning or comprehension. Whilst my main qualifications are in English and SEND, as a Teaching Head, I taught all NC subjects to my Y5/6 composite class therefore I have experience in tutoring Core Maths as well as English at Upper Primary level, alongside the other required NC subjects. I currently prepare pupils for 11+ examinations in English, Maths, VR and NVR for entry to independent schools including St. Paul’s, Westminster, Alleyn’s, Hampton, Latymer, Dulwich College, Whitgift, Merchant Taylor’s, John Lyon, Tiffin and Manchester Grammar. I also tutor pupils for KS2 SATs. I have the CELTA qualification and I was Head of EAL at a boarding school for 7 years so I have expertise in methods of teaching sentence structure, grammar, spelling and reading for EAL pupils from Starters to Proficiency. I also teach Listening and Speaking. I teach adult learners as well as pupils of school age; I am happy to teach Business English
