A bit about Debra C

I have a degree in Biochemistry and genetics and a PhD in Veterinary Microbiology. I have returned to university to complete a course in teaching A level physics. I have several years experience in teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics at A level.

I have been tutoring students on a 1:1 basis since 2013 both at GCSE and A level. In several cases I have tutored GCSE students who were struggling in science, but as a result of tutoring have chosen to study at least one science subject at A level.

I use a variety of techniques with students depending on individual needs. Recapping on topics and exam technique, how to use what students already know to obtain the highest marks in exams. I teach topics to students for the first time, using modelling to help with more complicated topics and breaking subjects down into more manageable sessions.

I love inspiring students and seeing both their confidence grow and their own desire to learn more increase. I want students to realise science is everywhere not just in a classroom.

I believe building working relationship with students is vital to them making progress in any subject. Allowing students to feel confident and supported in a topic as well as developing exam techniques.
