A bit about Joshua F

I am currently a undergraduate student at the Newcastle University studing Biomedical Science. I have 1 more years of study to complete and then I will be aiming for my masters and hopefully my doctorate. I specialise in tutoring in mathematics, science, biology and chemistry from KS3 right up to A - levels. I also can assist students in further mathematics as well. I usually follow a 3 part plan. The first part is to ask if the student has any homework and we will work on the homework. The second part is to ask if the have any upcomming test/quiz and we will prepare for it. The third part occurs if the student to requests a particular subject and the topic they need help in. I started tutoring for The Lab in October 2017. I like mathematics and science because it feels like a pattern is being developed and once you get the pattern everything seems so simple. I like to give the students the opportunity to work out the problem or to find the solution by themselves because I will not be in the examination room with them. My favourite thing about being a tutor is the flexibility of the job and the direct impact I would have on my students. My teaching philosophy comes from one of my favourite teachers and it goes like this, "Failing to prepare is preparing to fail". Students like the opportunity to write on the whiteboard when giving them questions as they can be engaged in their learning progress, Ultimately the greatest success I had with teaching is seeing all my students pass their given exams with good grades. Well, I did my schooling overseas so I will name the equivalent qualifications to what is given in the UK. GCSE = CXC (Caribbean Examinations Council) A - levels = CAPE (Caribbean Advanced Profficieny Examinations) in Natural Sciences At first when I was a tutor I was also a student so when I used to tutor others, I was reinforcing the topic that was taught in my memory. I like to watch sports mainly; football, basketball, tennis, boxing and American football. I like to solve puzzles as well such as crosswords and sudokus. I can teach from year 6 - 12. The exam boards I can teach in are GCSE and A-levels.
