A bit about Dr John Jackson

As a former zoologist and biochemist I am focussed on Biology and Chemistry - as well as maths at GCSE. I believe the approach we take to learning is fundamental to success and should concentrate not solely on learning facts: but that this knowledge should be strongly linked to understanding, and real-world application. I started tutoring 20 years ago and have helped students at all levels from primary to undergraduate level. I am what might be a called a polymath - which basically means that I am an expert in many fields. I have been a teacher, research scientist, graphic designer, web designer, writer, musician, videographer and many other things besides... The moment when a student understands something that they previously didn't. Informal and collaborative. I see the relationship not as of being a dictator - but of as a facilitator - helping guide students through their subjects.
