A bit about Mina

I have worked in Research Science for over 15 years. I completed my doctoral training in Molecular Biology at Leeds University and then traveled to the US to work for their government at the National Institute of Health. Here I worked on elucidating the mechanisms behind the genetics of aging. After 5 productive years in the US I returned home to take a contract position with King's College, London working on developing a novel method of Gene Targeting. I have found teaching to be most beneficial when I am working with my students on a one-to-one basis. This allows me to really understand what my student needs and tailor my tutoring and mentoring to this effect. I also find teaching with visual aids and innovative tools an effective method of teaching some aspects of science. Tutoring at this level builds trust and confidence in my students so they are able to work with me on the areas they need most. I believe this trust is important in progressing and obtaining the most out of tutoring. I can provide a bespoke tutoring and development program where I can tailor tasks and activities for each student to maximize their learning, revision and exam preparation. I have had extensive experience teaching students from my doctoral training days until my last post as a Post Doctoral Research Associate at King's College, London. I have mentored and trained students from undergraduate level to Ph. D level throughout my 15 years of science. In addition, I have lectured students in their final year undergraduate year. I have privately worked with tutees for over 11 years. I tutor Early Learning support, KS 1and 2 English, Maths and Science, Exam Preparation Maths, English, Non Verbal and Verbal Reasoning, GCSE Science, AS and A Level Biology and Higher Education/Adult Education Biology. I starting teaching students when I was a Ph.D Student at Leeds University in 1998. My Role as a demonstrator for Undergraduate student in Practical Biology lessons stood me in great stead to work with students to degree level. I have since worked with B.Sc, M. Sc, Ph. D students to this effect. Since 2011, I have tutored Primary KS2 and KS3, Maths, EnglishScience GCSE and A Level Students in Science and Biology in particular. I have also worked with students working towards entrance exams and 11+ I love working with students seeing when a concept or question we have been working 'clicks' and they understand. Sheer joy seeing their delight. I enjoy the challenge of working with all abilities to show they CAN do it. Outside of teaching, I have a keen interest in reading from fiction through to scientific peices. I have furthered my interest of Yoga and am now a qualified teacher for Yoga for all ages, (children, famiy, adults, pregnancy, postnatal, menopause), Meditation, Breathwork and the Biology and Neuroscience behind it.
