A bit about Marie M

I am a highly-qualified English Teacher/Tutor and I am currently teaching both English Language and Literature (KS3 and GCSE Level) in a secondary school. I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Secondary Education, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Journalism and a TESOL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages) Certificate. I have taught at both KS3 and KS4 levels and I have a broad knowledge and expert understanding of various GCSE English Language and Literature Examination Boards including Eduqas, AQA and Cambridge. As a result, I have an outstanding track record for producing excellent results for all my students studying English. I believe that establishing trust and a good rapport with my students are crucial aspects of successful teaching. Personal interaction and familiarity are paramount in developing self-belief and the confidence to progress and succeed. For me, this is a driving force in being a teacher. I take pride in my skills and ability to deliver 1-1 lessons confidently and to be able to adapt and differentiate teaching materials to suit the specific needs and learning styles of all my students. In addition, I have extensive experience in the education of both adults and children from various diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds and I have had the invaluable opportunity to work in various educational settings in both the United Kingdom and across Africa. I smile a lot! I think this makes a huge difference and helps my students relax and realise I am human and not just a teacher! I have always been relentlessly passionate about making a positive, fruitful and life-changing influence in the education and future of young people – particularly those who are from disadvantaged backgrounds and those who lack self-belief and confidence in their true abilities. I thrive on making a positive difference. I believe that my skills, knowledge and experience as a teacher and 1-1 tutor has given me the freedom, inspiration and opportunity to make a difference in so many lives over the years. Each success has been a driving force for me to continue to make this happen. Being able to connect and make a change and a difference in young people’s lives and helping them to develop in their confidence and ability to communicate and really BELIEVE in themselves. It is so rewarding being a part of my students’ growth and being a part of their experience to see that they can really succeed!
