A bit about Emily A

Secondary school Drama teacher with experience of working in professional theatres as well as the classroom environment. All aspects of the Drama curriculum are covered, and lessons will be tailored to individual students needs and requirements. Drama and Theatre Arts. Performing and Production. I have taught in schools for several years. Tutoring is becoming more frequent due to lockdown. Lessons are thoroughly planned in advance. Flexible to suit student's individual requirements / exam board etc. I can write a scheme of work (sow) to compliment and pupils in-school learning, or provide top-up and extra lessons to extend learning in the classroom. I absolutely love all aspects of Drama and theatre. The live atmosphere inside a theatre is wonderful. I love giving my students that experience and feeling also. I love the topics that I teach and choose the ones I feel most passionate about, although I'm equally comfortable to write a whole new scheme of work based on the student's individual requests and needs. I like to get 'stuck in' and would never expect my student's to do something I wouldn't do myself. Start off getting to know each other and building confidence and trust. I want my students to feel totally comfortable with me, and able to speak to me about any concerns around their learning. Equally I take my work seriously and expect commitment through mutual respect. Mutual respect and always listen to each other. Teaching and learning go hand in hand together. I am always willing to listen to your views and have a very nurturing nature, which I hope will quickly put my students at ease. I love my subject and love sharing it with other people. I feel confident and comfortable in what I do, and would like to use my experience to help and support my student's in this subject. I'm very approachable and will never make the students do something they feel genuinely uncomfortable with. If performing isn't for them, but production and directing is, we'll focus on that! I'm always available to talk through anything and will often give 1-1 feedback. I genuinely care about my students, their wellbeing and their exam outcomes. I'll do everything that I can to support them in their studies.
