A bit about Katherine

Hi! I am a postgraduate student with five years of higher education experience studying history. With a wealth of academic writing experience, I can help you to improve your research and writing skills to improve your confidence and grades. I achieved 3 A's at A-Level in History, English Literature and Spanish, so I am confident tutoring all three subjects up to A-Level. I am fluent in English and Spanish, and have studied abroad in Santiago, Chile and worked abroad in Barcelona, Spain. I am also fluent in Japanese, achieving an A* in GCSE Japanese at the age of 13. Thus, I am happy to tutor students for Japanese GCSE, specifically for the oral exam preparation. As a bilingual Japanese-English speaker, I can empathise and understand the struggles of native English speakers so we can focus on honing in accent and intonation together! I took my A-Level Spanish and History exams under Edexcel and A-Level English Literature under AQA, therefore I have personal experience with the prospectus and exam board requirements. However, I am able to adapt to all major exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR). I focus on tutoring GCSE and A-Level History, Spanish and English Literature students. I create a welcoming and motivational space where each students feels supported and encouraged to succeed. Having previously worked as a private tutor in Maths and English, I cater to the individual needs of each student, and together create a plan with clear objectives to improve not only their grades, but also their self-confidence and bravery. I invite students to think critically and challenge their previous understandings on topics and ideas. I hope to see you in the classroom!
