A bit about Alex K

Over the 21 years I have been teaching I have taught a range of linear and modular Science courses across all the main exam boards. I teach full time across the whole 11-18 ages groups. In addition, I have taught psychology and PE to A-Level. Away from teaching I am a lover of the outdoors. I have a Mountain Leader qualification and use this to guide groups and individuals. I also am involved in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme and currently manage this at my school. Beyond that, I am enjoying the lifestyle that semi-rural living gives me and and look forward to moving to the mountains soon! My aim has always been to teach on a student-led basis. I refrain from simply sharing solution with my students; preferring to enable individuals to solve the problems themselves with the strategies I show them. I am skilled I helping students to audit their knowledge and application to ensure that they gain maximum benefit from their tuition sessions. I focus on the student demonstrating their knowledge and rarely 'tell' the answer myself. I aim to develop an understanding of the subject rather than a fact based approach.
