A bit about Kim O

My lessons are tailored around what you need. For example, if you’re struggling with analysis, that’s what we will practise through marking/feedback and exploring the writer’s intentions. I have ample GCSE knowledge which means I am able to help students with their weaknesses in preparation for exam season. I first started tutoring when I qualified as a teacher, which was 6 years ago now. I teach full time in a secondary school with experience of ages 11-16. I am a confident and competent teacher and have experience with students of all different abilities. I decided to tutor alongside teaching and found that I enjoyed building confidence 1-1 with students but also celebrating their achievements as a result of their hard work and dedication. I specialise in English from 11-16. I have always taught KS3 and KS4 so I am highly experienced in both. My key strengths are: - Macbeth - Romeo and Juliet - A Christmas Carol - Love and Relationships Poetry - Power and Conflict Poetry - Animal Farm I am also confident with an Inspector Calls. Along side my KS4 knowledge, I am able to cover a vast curriculum for KS3 which builds basic grammar skills and topics necessary to build a well rounded English student. My name is Kim and I am a 28 year old teacher from Derbyshire. Obviously, I adore reading (it comes with the territory, I suppose) and I quite enjoy crafting when I get time. From a young age, I decided I wanted to become a teacher and tailored my A-Levels and degree to suit this dream. At university, I enjoyed studying Romantic poets, Post War literature and the Classics. Not forgetting Shakespeare! I did my English degree alongside Education studies so that I could become a competent and capable teacher. One of my favourite things about teaching English is the moment when a student finds something they’re passionate about. This could be a specific poem or even a skill. It’s a great moment to see and something I wouldn’t ever get bored. I especially love English teaching because it gives me the opportunity to talk about something I love with people. It gives me the opportunity to ignite the same passion I have. It also enables me to support people with their future - English is a core subject and I like to know in some way I have helped people get one step closer to where they want to be. I teach years 7-11 and I am currently teaching using the AQA specification. I also have experience in Step up to English (Silver and gold).
