A bit about Ruth B

I am a Qualified Science Teacher (QTS) with over 10 years of experience. I tutor GCSE Combined and Triple Science and A-level Biology. I have experience in several exam boards (including AQA, OCR and Edexcel). I enhance students’ attainment by developing and delivering personalised tutoring whilst enabling students to enjoy the subject. I am friendly, encouraging and motivate pupils to apply themselves to ensure their best outcomes. I have a vast tool kit of study skills to impart to pupils to help them study more effectively. I have extensive experience working with students with ADHD, ASD and other SEND needs. I started my career as a Biomedical Scientist after completing a degree in Biomedical Science whilst working in the NHS. In 2013 I gained Qualified Teacher Status after completing a school-based QTS course. I have taught and tutored Science for over 10 years applying my skills and knowledge to ensure that students gain their best possible outcomes and grades. Watching students' confidence grow. Hearing about how students' grades have improved whilst tutoring with me. Allowing students to feel successful and achieve. I am very student-led and gauge the needs of each individual student by various efficient and effective assessment methods (whilst ensuring the tutee feels supported and motivated). I then apply a program of personalised tuition. I respond to the student's educational needs as and when they crop up and tailor my teaching to them at any given moment. My tutoring is very person centred and my tutees always leave a session feeling more prepared, knowledgeable and empowered.
