A bit about Emily

My name is Emily, and I am a qualified teacher of English. I live in Colchester with my husband and have worked at state schools in Essex and Suffolk and lectured at the University of Essex. When I am not looking after my four guinea pigs, I am cooking. I prefer to use a range of activities to engage students. A typical lesson will include a key term starter, informational video clip, discussion and comprehension activities. Once I have gauged a student's level of confidence we will start regular exam practise. I can teach all aspects of the AQA and Edexcel English GCSE exam boards and comprehension, spelling punctuation and grammar and creative writing to SATs students. I am also experienced in teaching day-to-day English skills to KS3 students such as character and structure analysis, literary techniques, and transactional and fiction writing.
