Mya is an experienced and enthusiastic tutor working with students from KS3 to GCSE.

A bit about Mya S

I base my lessons around governmentally-released specifications which guide specific information the student must be able to understand and apply. These lessons usually consist of a starter activity which either acts as a knowledge recap of previous lessons or ties in content that is applicable to the current lesson. The bulk of the session will then steadily build on information about the given topic to increase clarity and understanding. Finally, the session will close with exam questions and structure to improve confidence. My teaching philosophy is definitely a kind, gently and positive approach. I understand how hard the current education system is having gone through it myself, is and how much information children must pick up in a short amount of time. Due to this, I am a tutor who is prepared to go the extra mile to ensure students are comfortable with topics, happy to explain concepts in numerous different ways and am flexible in teaching to different learning styles students may have. I mostly specialise in STEM subjects after having undergone Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics A-levels and currently undertaking a science-based degree at the University of Birmingham. However, I have always had a passion for humanities and languages! I am a tutor who has transferrable knowledge and always readily available for any concerns students may have! Being a university student, tutoring is a flexible, rewarding and interesting job where I am able to make a positive difference. Over the past five years being a tutor, I am proud to say I have witnessed the change in students grades and confidence at school and can't wait to help many more!
