A bit about Zena R

Hello! I am Zena and I am a finalist Law student. I absolutely love my degree. I believe that my degree has given me a very unique and valuable worldview in that I see the bigger picture and think outside of the box. I think that I will influence my students as I am aware of how important it is to give meaning to knowledge. I understand that we, as humans, need the bigger picture, we need context and examples in order to truly understand concepts. This is central to my teaching style; I always include interesting and relevant examples and background information so that students see why it is important to learn and give them a deeper and more solid comprehension of and grounding to their subjects. I would say that my sessions are very tailored to suit the needs of my students. I like to provide context and value to what I teach as I know that when learning at school, it can be hard to remember why it is important to learn certain skills and knowledge. I do this by including YouTube clips, film excerpts and real-life case studies and examples. In terms of the teaching resources I employ, I make a lot of personalised PowerPoints, word documents and also little podcasts and articles that simplify and consolidate students' knowledge and understanding. I also make sure to regularly check their understanding of the content via small quizzes, past paper questions and exercises, which in turn reinforce and strengthen their grasp of the subject. Most importantly, I aim to develop a good rapport with my students so that they know that making mistakes is actually beneficial to learning, and that they can ask me any questions or worries that they have. I specialise in tutoring KS2 Maths, English Comprehension, KS3, GCSE Biology, English Literature, English Language, History, Religious Studies and Sociology, A-Level English Literature, Sociology & Philosophy and Ethics as well as helping students prepare for their 11+ entrance exams. I recognise that every subject has equal value and make sure that all of my resources are current and effective All exam boards for KS3 and GCSE Maths.
