A bit about Ms. Spence

I specialise in teaching the physical sciences, namely Biology, Chemisty and Physics and other science based subjects at both primary and secondary levels. I have been teaching for over 30 years and have taught UK based national curricula as well as in international based contexts. I have been teaching science for over 30 years and am passionate about supporting young minds in reaching their goals to achieve their highest potential. I have been tutoring since the year 2002 and am mindful that tutoring is beneficial for every child, whether you require extra support with certain concepts leading to your attained goal, or simply require support in order to maintain your attained level. I enjoy teaching science as a subject as it covers so much about our own existence and helps provide us with the knowledge of how best to interact with our environment. I begin each lesson with a 5 minute starter activity with helps to cultivate interest and stimulate previous knowledge in the main topic. We then look at the learning objectives for the topic to be covered. Even though we may be in a virtual setting, it is still possible to carrying out simulations, watch short clips, go through main concepts using slides. Then ending the session with a plenary (summary) to check and reinforce learning. I hold a honours degree in Science Education as well as a honours degree in Biomedical Sciences. I have UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and Induction certification. Science is fun and made to be less intimidating. The joys of witnessing young minds supported and facilitated to achieve their full potential as future adults in society.
