A bit about Lucy F

I studied both French and German at Bristol University, graduating with a 2:1. I have been a teacher of languages for 6 years, working at a range of schools (mixed-gender, single-gender, independent, grammar, and state). I have a QTS and a PGCE and I am confident in teaching French and German from KS1-KS4, and Spanish at KS1-2. I have experience of teaching students with ASD, AD(H)D and SEMH, and I am proud of the relationships I foster with all students, regardless of ability or SEN(D). For me, practising the language is only half of what is needed to become 'fluent' - an appreciation for and understanding of the culture and people is just as important, and something I promote in my teaching. Tell me your interests, and I will do my best to include them in my lessons. My favourite thing about teaching languages is the variety of tasks and activities that can be used. I love making games out of learning, whilst also showing the relevance and important of languages in today's society. Moreover, creating and fostering relationships with students/tutees gives me real satisfaction, and is incredibly important to teaching and learning. For me, it is all about relationships. Through fostering strong working relationships, students thrive as learners. Book an introductory lesson to get to know me (and vice versa)! I am friendly and use my sense of humour and creativity to make my lessons and activities engaging. I am also a collaborative teacher - I want my students to have some agency in their learning. So, at the end of every lesson, I ask for feedback on the lesson and also what they want to look at next time.
