A bit about Richard S

I am an engaging and motivated teacher with huge experience in teaching Mathematics to all levels of ability. I am passionate about the subject and love to see students learning new concepts with confidence. As a teacher you have to really understand the topics that you teach so that you can impart this knowledge successfully. I love all sports, particularly tennis and football. It’s important that new concepts in Mathematics are explained clearly and concisely. It is also important that students question the teacher so that misconceptions can be addressed. I also believe that students need to practise the subject as successful learning takes place here. In preparing for assessments students need to understand what weaknesses they have and address them. I love teaching Mathematics as it a subject that some students can find challenging, which means that as a teacher you have to find ways of bringing the subject to life and engaging their interest. At higher levels it is also tremendously absorbing and you get a sense of achievement when you can help students grasp difficult concepts. I love all sports and play tennis to a good standard. I support Manchester United and follow them closely throughout the season. I love maps! I find them fascinating. I also like watching movies and reading Maths books! I have a dog and she is like a cuddly teddy bear!
