A bit about June P

I am an English, Drama, Media and Film teacher, teaching from KS3 up to KS5 (GCSE and A Level). My experience is core value in my teaching, to encourage the students to believe in themselves, to embrace education, believing it is a process, finding the fire within, key to social mobility and an improved future. Using strategic planning, my career journey gave me muscle, with the result of building an incredible career working within the entertainment industries: Advertising, Film, TV, and Radio, moving on to one of the biggest entertainment companies, PolyGram, now the acclaimed Universal, I was trained by the company in innovative technology, coordination, marketing, and public relations. This success started me thinking how I could help young people propel themselves to achieve. English, Drama, Media and Film studies from KS3 to GCSE and A Level. Also Building confidence and belief in the students I teach. Not only do I teach these subjects but I have worked in the industries outside of education in the private sector. Prior to any teaching place, I like to talk to the students to find out what they enjoy and their interests. I base my planning and execution of lessons on the needs of the individual student holistically, to make the student feel valid. Depending on the level of ability I will discuss then set a task; both the student and I will go through and correct and discuss improvements. Improvement will take place, with the student leaving the lesson having made progress. I started private tutoring in 2016 teaching 11 plus, SATS and GCSE. After my sons were born, I began teaching Drama from early years to professional standard. It was at this time I realized my vocation was to teach, inspiring young people to believe in themselves, find confidence to bring their dreams into reality. Armed with my Cert Ed, QTLS and ATL, I was able to begin work in Further and Secondary education. My professional experience outside teaching has enabled me to employ my intuition plus my instinct, to teach outstanding and relevant lessons. Importantly, using data and analysis makes me accountable for each pupil’s progress within the subjects I teach. Interpreting the results of exams through my own analysis, and exam board, to improve outcomes and close the gaps in teaching and learning. Specifically, interpreting prior knowledge of a child, using differentiation, in a subtle, meaningful way to progress a child’s outcomes. This means I intrinsically decode a child’s capabilities, which allows them to process their own understanding to make progress. The professional knowledge of the subjects I teach, along with my professional experience gives me a unique approach to my educational classroom cultivation.
