A bit about Gary W

I have a really good understanding of how students learn and the importance of building confidence, which then enables them to solve maths or science problems or questions. In the classroom, it can be easy to coast or pretend to understand a topic when you do not. This leads to students getting behind and losing any confidence they had. Often it is about filling in gaps in a student's understanding or going over topics again that they did not have time to fully grasp. I am a great believer that being 'good' at maths or science does not require you to be super bright, but willing to practice again and again until you master it. We will work together to identify topics that you find difficult and then make a plan to address them. Not everyone wants to go on and study maths or science, you may just need to get that all-important grade 4 so that you can move on to the next step of your journey. Or you might need to focus on those level 6 topics to help you to the next level. Whatever you are aiming for I would like to help you to reach your goals and targets. Outside of teaching, I am a dad to four children and a grandad to two grandchildren. I follow Manchester United, but please do not let this put you off! I have taught the AQA and Edexcel syllabus at KS3 and 4 in combined, trilogy, and single sciences. In addition to the Edexcel syllabus in maths at KS3 and 4. I am also an examiner for science.
