A bit about Farah

Hey there, awesome students! I'm Farah, a second year student at the University of Birmingham, studying Law with Business Studies. I achieved A*AA in my A-Levels in 2022. I have been tutoring for nearly 3 years. I did A-Level Economics and scored very highly (A*), and enjoyed it so much. A large part of my university degree is the study of Economics. I am very passionate about Economics as a subject, and wish to pass on this love for it to my students. I am the tutor you've been waiting for! With a creative and engaging teaching style, I make learning exciting and enjoyable. My lessons are very flexible and can take whatever shape and form you desire! I'm passionate about helping you succeed, building confidence, and exploring subjects in a fun way. Together, we'll conquer any obstacles, ignite your curiosity, and achieve remarkable results. Join me on this learning adventure, and let's unlock your full potential! As an experienced tutor, I specialize in Economics. Whether it's solving complex equations, understanding policies, or preparing for exams, I provide personalized guidance and support. My goal is to make learning accessible and enjoyable, ensuring your success and growth. Let's tackle any challenges together and excel in your academic journey! My lessons are usually an hour or two long. In my lessons, I follow a structured yet flexible approach. We start (in the introduction session) by discussing your learning objectives and any specific areas you'd like to focus on, or specific skills you'd like to improve in. Each session includes a combination of explanations, real life examples, practice exercises, past paper questions, and interactive discussions. I encourage active participation and provide guidance and feedback throughout the lesson. I use my A-Level notes as a main guide for my lessons, as I believe they are a comprehensive tool, and are very heavy on analysis and evaluation points for each sub-topic, which is crucial to gaining top marks. The lessons' focus therefore, after consolidating understanding of the content and relevant diagrams, is improving exam skills - how to apply the content, evaluate and analyse in an essay based scenario. To further support your learning, at the end of the lesson, I provide a pdf version of my personal notes, and past exam questions. The notes are in essay style format, and are therefore amazing for exam revision. They helped me get an A*, and they will help you too! As i provide the notes, in the lesson you can just focus on understanding the material rather than trying to get everything down. You could also then go away and attempt the past paper questions, and come back the following lesson with questions; we could go through the answers and show you the working out to any questions you struggled with. My lessons usually alternate between Micro and Macro weekly, but I am flexible and they can be only micro, or only macro, or a different structure of both, it's up to you! If this sounds like it might work for you, message me and I'd be more than happy to provide further details! :) I've been honing my tutoring skills since 2020. With a passion for helping students like you, I'm here to be your trusted tutor and friend. I've got you covered. I have tutored large groups, as well as one-to-one. Together, we'll conquer challenges, unravel mysteries, and unlock your full potential. Let's embark on an extraordinary learning adventure that will leave you inspired and excited to explore the world of knowledge! As an Economics tutor, what I love most about teaching the subject is witnessing the "aha" moments when students grasp complex economic concepts and start connecting them to the real world. Economics provides a lens through which we can understand and analyze the choices, behaviors, and interactions that shape our society and the global economy. It is incredibly rewarding to see students develop critical thinking skills, apply economic principles to everyday scenarios, and gain a deeper understanding of how economic decisions impact individuals, businesses, and governments. Teaching Economics allows me to empower students with knowledge that is not only intellectually stimulating but also equips them with valuable skills for making informed decisions and navigating the complexities of the world around them. With science, we become explorers, unraveling the mysteries of the universe, conducting mind-blowing experiments, and understanding how things work. The best part? It's all about discovery, curiosity, and the thrill of expanding our knowledge. My teaching style is dynamic and engaging, with a focus on catering to the needs of students. For younger students, I adopt a patient and nurturing approach, ensuring concepts are presented in a fun and interactive manner. I use visual aids, stories, and hands-on activities to make learning exciting and memorable. With older students, I foster critical thinking skills by encouraging discussions, posing thought-provoking questions, and providing real-life examples. I provide them with a lot of past paper questions to familiarise them with answering exam questions, and boost their confidence in sitting GCSE's and A-Levels. I believe in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and actively participating. Together, we'll build a solid foundation of knowledge, boost confidence, and foster a love for learning! My favorite thing about being a tutor is witnessing the "Aha!" moments and the spark of understanding in my students' eyes. There's nothing quite like helping young minds grasp challenging concepts and seeing their confidence soar. Building connections and creating a positive learning environment where students feel supported and encouraged is incredibly rewarding. I love the opportunity to inspire a lifelong love for learning, nurture curiosity, and witness the incredible growth of each student. Being a tutor allows me to make a meaningful impact on young lives, and that's what fuels my passion for teaching. My teaching philosophy revolves around making students confident with what examiners look for in terms of marking GCSE's and A levels, as well as fostering a love for learning and empowering students to become independent thinkers. I believe that every student has unique strengths and learning styles, and it is my role as a tutor to identify and nurture those individual qualities. I aim to create a safe and inclusive space where students feel encouraged to ask questions, take risks, and express their ideas. I promote active engagement through hands-on activities, interactive discussions, and real-life examples to make learning relevant and exciting. I also emphasize the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills to equip students for success beyond the classroom. Ultimately, my goal is to instill a lifelong love for learning, inspire curiosity, and help students realize their full potential. Students love my teaching style because I teach them exactly what they need to know, and how they are meant to apply their knowledge to answering exam questions. It is also interactive, engaging, and tailored to their needs. I create a positive and welcoming atmosphere where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and asking questions. I bring subjects to life through exciting activities, games, and multimedia resources that make learning fun and memorable. By incorporating real-life examples and connecting lessons to their interests, I make the material relevant and relatable. Students appreciate my patience, encouragement, and ability to break down complex concepts into simple, understandable terms. Most importantly, they feel empowered and supported as they develop confidence, critical thinking skills, and a genuine love for learning. The greatest success I've had with teaching is witnessing the transformation and growth of my students. Seeing a struggling student grasp a difficult concept, gain confidence, and excel in their academic journey brings me immense joy. Witnessing their enthusiasm and passion for learning flourish is a true measure of success. Moreover, knowing that I have played a role in shaping their educational experience and empowering them with knowledge and skills that will benefit them throughout their lives is incredibly rewarding. Each student's progress and achievements are a testament to the power of education and the impact of effective teaching. - I am currently an LLB Law with Business Studies Undergraduate student, in second year, at the University of Birmingham - 8 GCSEs (8 grade 9's, and 1 grade 8) including English, Maths, Science, & Business Studies - 3 A levels: Biology (A), Chemistry (A), and Economics (A*) I became a tutor because I am deeply passionate about empowering students and igniting their love for learning. I was inspired by the incredible potential that lies within each student, waiting to be nurtured and unleashed. Witnessing the growth, curiosity, and confidence of young minds is a source of great inspiration. I believe that education is the key to unlocking endless opportunities and shaping a brighter future. Outside of teaching, I have a wide range of interests that fuel my passion for continuous learning. I love exploring the great outdoors, whether it's hiking, cycling, or simply taking long walks in nature. I also love reading, diving into various genres of books from fantasy to contemporary, and I often find myself lost in the captivating worlds created by authors. These diverse interests keep me energized and inspired, and I believe they contribute to my dynamic and engaging approach to teaching. Economics - A-Level. AQA.
