A bit about Peter C

I have 2 little ones at home and work full time in a secondary SEND school. I have been teaching since 2003 and have led children from 5 to 16 years old in a variety of schools around Essex and have spent time teaching in Australia. I have been a 1 to 1 tutor in 3 previous schools that I taught at. I specialise in filling identified gaps in understanding. I break learning into small achievable chunks and revisit learning to consolidate new learning. Each session will start by revisiting previous learning and correcting any misconceptions, then will involve some teaching of new concepts/ information and end by recapping previous and new learning that has taken place. I have tutored in schools I have been teaching at. I am new to independently 1 to 1 tutoring... I love seeing children make progress in areas it is deemed they will never progress in. I use positive praise to celebrate successes (no matter how small or big), and ensure children are supported to solve new challenges in whatever they are learning about. If possible I will be in contact with a class teacher to establish exactly what the gaps of learning are that need filling. I teach knowledge and skills needed to achieve well in SATs tests. I play badminton, sail dinghies, play ukulele and love to travel abroad and see new places. Nowadays, I love spending time with my young family. I've always enjoyed working with children and love to see them achieve. I enjoy their perceptions that have not been too affected by the world around them. My friendly and approachable personality with a reasonable sense of humour. I always have a smile on my face and mistakes are learning tools not failures...
