A bit about Aamina B

I have five years’ experience tutoring KS3, GCSE, iGCSE, and A-Level physics and maths, and I also hold an undergraduate degree in Physics and Space Sciences. I am currently studying a masters in Space Exploration Systems and work in the professional space industry as a systems developer. My tutoring portfolio includes 1-to-1 tutoring, group tutoring and being the Lead Mentor for the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leicester and I enjoy including real world application of the topics I cover with my tutees, such as those I use in my day job in the space industry. I currently hold a BSc. Physics with Space Sciences and I am studying MSc. Space Exploration systems. Both of these courses are heavily maths and physics centred, allowing me to be very proficient in teaching these subjects and breaking them down into understandable and digestible components. My specialty lies space sciences and engineering, which are based off of primary principles of physics and maths. I am currently studying Space Exploration Systems and work in the professional space industry as part of a systems team, and I like to infuse my professional experiences into my teaching to give context to what my tutees are learning. Outside of teaching, I love plane spotting and flying aeroplanes as a member of the Honourable Company of Pilots and the British Women's Pilot Association. Over the summer, I attend as many air shows as possible including the Paris Air Show. I also love to keep up to date with space and aviation through reading popular science books and magazines, my recommendations being Packing for Mars by Mary Roach and Simple Flying for aviation. To wind down from the heights, I like to make pottery drawing inspiration from nature, specifically my faves, the bees. My style of teaching varies with how my tutee learns best along with which topic we are looking at at the time. For example, while teaching a mechanics module from either M1 in maths or mechanics in physics, I utilise a more visual and hands on approach by drawing out diagrams of forces acting on an object and annotating forces diagrams. Alternatively, when looking at the Law of Conservation of Energy, although the learning can be aided with diagrams, learning the laws take on a more lecture format and, in this case, I would use repetitive exposure after discussing the laws and noting them down.
