A bit about Sarah F

Having spent over twenty years as a teacher and leader in local primary schools, I decided to move in a new direction. My passion has always been about making a difference to the lives of my students. I feel tutoring really allows me to do this successfully. I started tutoring online in 2020 and haven't looked back. My specialist area is primary mathematics and I have worked as a curriculum advisor in this area previously. I have experience, and have a good success record, in delivering 7+, 11+, English and Mathematics tuition to children from Year 2 upwards. I also have experience in tutoring adults in functional skills up to Level 2. My lessons are planned around individual needs and agreed target areas. I use a number of teaching techniques for full impact, this includes learning games, modeled sessions and opportunities for independent application. I have been teaching since September 2000. My tutoring career started in May 2020, after supporting friends children through lockdown with a variety of individual needs. I am a problem solver with a love of learning. Those 'lightbulb'momebts are the reason I love what I do. I am passionate about the need to encourage a sound understanding of English and Mathematics in our young people, teaching them in the way that works for them. After over twenty years in teaching, my teaching style is adaptable. I recognise that learning is not a 'one size fits all' experience. I adapt to the needs of the children I work with so that I can empower them to achieve their full potential. I enjoy building positive relationships with my students. Watching confidence grow and understanding build is simply wonderful. Knowing you can make such a positive difference, truly reigniting a love of learning, is the best gift this profession offers.
