A bit about Rachel O

I specialise in teaching Physics at GCSE and A-level and have experience in a range of different exam boards. I have 14 years teaching experience in competitive, high ability schools. A significant proportion of my students go on to study Physics and Engineering in some of the most elite universities in the UK and abroad - including Oxbridge, Imperial, MIT and Harvard. I enjoy being able to aid the student in problem solving and learning independent methods to tackle the most complex of questions. My lessons are designed to be fun, relevant, engaging and interactive. I enjoy inspiring students about Physics and making the theory come to life. I will always start with working out your current level, then using different techniques to develop skill and understanding. I will use a variety of methods to help you understand the theory and then apply it to the questions. If there is something you don't understand the first time, I will endeavour to find another way to explain it. I will assess your understanding at every step and so will tailor each session to your own individual needs. Physics is for everyone and I love being able to challenge misconceptions about the subject. It is all around us in everyday life, so I will always be able to find an example of why it is relevant to you. I am proud about my ability to explain complex concepts in terms that everyone can understand. Watching the penny drop as my student's understanding clicks into place is the reason I do this. I am a qualified and experienced teacher, having taught a range of student abilities. This means I can support students of all levels and help them to the next stage. I studied Materials, Economics and Management at the University of Oxford, followed by a PhD in NanoBioTechnology at Imperial College, London. This means I can stretch and challenge the students and take them beyond the syllabus. I can bring the syllabus to life. I have also worked as a GCSE and A-Level examiner, so I have a strong understanding of exam technique.
